  1. AERATE - Aerating your lawn decreases soil compaction, which allows for better drainage and more efficient uptake of nutrients through grass roots

  2. DETHATCH - Thatch is a build up of dead matter on the lawn surface.Dethatching allows for free flow of air and space for new growth.  Too much thatch in a lawn creates a great environment for disease and pests

Grove Garden Center Tips

When your vegetation dies due to cool temps - As most vegetation dies back due to the cool fall weather our cute little friend bambi will be out and about looking for your evergreens. What Mother Nature can't provide for them your yard or gardens might. Protect your valuable plants by using deer repellents or netting. Don't put it off till its too late.

Watering Grass - Early morning is the best time to water lawns. Evening can promote fungus growth and watering mid day can cause some burning to the grass. Water can act as a magnifier in the mid day sun.

Salt Damage - If salt damage to your lawn is a concern, we recommend that you water those areas heavily as soon as the snow melts. By watering those areas, the salts will leach deep into the soil where they won't affect your lawn.

Fertilizer -  Pick the right fertilizer for you. On all fertilizers there are 3 numbers Example 10-10-10
First # is Nitrogen - stimulates green foliage.
Second # is Phosphorus - stimulates root growth, flowering & fruiting.
Third # is Potash - aids with the overall hardiness of a plant.

Deep Watering Grass - When watering lawns, deep watering grass is the best, this promotes the grass roots to reach deeper in the soil for moisture. This is beneficial in times of drought. Light frequent watering keeps the grass root system close to the soil's surface. This can cause problems in times of drought.
